Issue: 70 | February 2024

This is not an election issue as such, but the headlines being splashed around the mainstream media in the run-up to the election align to many of the topics that are covered in this CT Brief. Albeit with a different tone!

In this issue, you’ll find thoughtful considerations of leadership – which is so crucial at this time of instability and concern for so many people – from Tracey McEachran’s piece on what influences our ability to work well together, to Greg Campbell’s reflections on governance in football.

There has been a lot of negativity (and discrimination) in the air about people who are somehow deemed to be different. I think, like many others, this makes me angry and frustrated but it also means I am open to being inspired. In this issue, we share about our work at Young Minds, Home Connections’ practical solutions to tackle rough sleeping, and HostNations’ brilliant refugee befriending service, which I hope will inspire you too.

There’s also a great piece from Jason MacGilp on the landscape of key housing issues from Scotland.

Whatever your political leanings, let’s hope that as we head into the election we see examples of leadership that has a positive impact, more inclusive approaches for people who need support and effective horizon scanning so we can better anticipate the challenge to come.

Enjoy the edition, and as ever, get in touch, we’d love to hear what you think.
