Chair of Risk and Audit Committee

Golden Lane Housing
Non-Executive
London | Manchester
£4.5k

Job Details

Golden Lane Housing is one of the UK’s leading providers of housing for people with learning disabilities and autism, currently supporting over 2,800 tenants across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Two years on from our demerger from Mencap we are now very much an independent organisation and our ambition for expanding our provision further is stronger than ever. We know that there is considerable demand for specialised supported homes for people with a learning disability, that we are very well placed to meet, and we have firm plans to keep growing our provision to meet the needs of those that we support, who often struggle to find suitable housing.

With some longstanding colleagues coming to the end of their term on the Board, we are excited to be seeking three new colleagues to join our Board.

Chair: we are seeking an ambitious and experienced Chair who brings the ability to get the best from our strong Board, in the service of delivering on our ambition to have an even greater impact for the groups we serve. You will need to demonstrate you have the ability to be a successful Chair in the social housing space, with its particular regulatory requirements.

Chair of Risk and Audit Committee: you will be a finance professional, with good insight into how this committee ensures that assurance systems support organisational control and ambition and will preferably be qualified to CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA/ICAEW.

Non-Executive Director role: we are seeking candidates who bring senior strategic experience and expertise in development, repairs and maintenance and/or sustainability experience. RICS qualified surveyors are encouraged to apply. Prior Board experience is not a requirement, and this role may be a good opportunity for someone seeking their first Board appointment.

Whilst housing sector experience would be useful, for the Non-Executive Director and Risk and Audit Committee Chair roles, we would welcome applications from those with relevant technical expertise from other sectors. We especially welcome interest from candidates with lived experience of or a personal connection with learning disabilities and are also keen to hear from people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds to help us ensure our Board reflects the diversity of our tenants.
