Sue is a Director at Campbell Tickell where she leads for the practice on finance and risk. She is an economist and a specialist in corporate finance, governance, risk and assurance with more than 17 years’ experience in social and supported housing, regeneration, health and social care, as well as a background in forecasting, business modelling and pensions.

She is a regular conference speaker and her recent assignments include:-

• M&A brokering, critical friend and support for a number of organisations including St Matthews (Genesis), Presentation (Notting Hill), Livability HA (Habinteg), Three Valleys (East Midlands), Newport HT (Seren): Family Birmingham (WM Group), Heantun (Accord) and Venture (One Vision): support to Boards through merger, including financial analysis, support for due diligence and regulator and funder negotiations;

• A range of governance assignments including preparation for HCA In-Depth Assessments, individual and whole-Board appraisal, remuneration reviews, advice on group and committee structures, skills gap analysis and reviews of board recruitment and induction processes: Ascham Homes, Croydon Churches, Cartrefi Conwy, Saffron HA, Walsall HG, Amicus Horizon, Curo, Your Housing, South Yorkshire, Westward, Network, United Residents, Advance, Asham Homes, Thrive, Accent, Hyelm, ISHA, Suffolk HS and Contour;

• Supporting social housing regulators: Homes and Communities Agency – Leading the team undertaking viability assessments. Training for regulatory operations team on stress testing and governance. Facilitating senior stakeholder seminar on protecting social housing assets. Contributing to Sector Risk Profile 2013 to 2015. Scottish Housing Regulator - Review of 20+ cases of severe financial distress. Housing Agency (Ireland): Developing the framework for assessing associations’ viability for the new voluntary regulatory code. Welsh Housing Regulator: support for developing approach to mergers;

• Facilitating Board and leadership team away days: Walsall HG, Charity Commission, Dementia UK, Lambeth Living, Contour Homes, Cottsway, Chelmer HP, Helena Partnerships, Oswald Stoll, Hill Homes, Grimsby YMCA, Watford CHT, Heantun, Bethnal Green & Victoria Park, New World, Colne, Symphony, Iceni Homes, First Wessex, SITRA, Toynbee Hall, Westward and Watford CHT;

• Regulator-prompted specialist financial reviews and investigations, to establish chronology and substance of complex events – many involving lenders – and to present recommendations to enable all parties to move forward. Including for Carr Gomm, Newport Housing Trust, Hyelm, Knightstone and Venture; and

Sue is the Chair of the English Housing Ombudsman’s Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and the co-Chair of Housemark’s Business Assurance Club. For eight years she brought finance skills to the subsidiary board within a G15 housing group. She has also been a trustee of a care and support charity, a non-executive director of a NHS foundation mental health trust, the Chair of an inner London regeneration programme and a director of a commercial development company.
