Greg Campbell is a strategic management consultant and Campbell Tickell Partner, with an extensive background in local government, social housing and care, the voluntary sector, and the private sector. As a consultant over the past 17 years, he has worked directly with well over 350 organisations in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. He has broad-ranging experience in such areas as governance and strategy, regulation, risk management and business assurance, procurement and new business, stock transfer, communication and PR, regeneration and community development, and human resources and recruitment.

Greg has extensive networks across the not for profit sectors. He is a frequent speaker on the operating environment and corporate strategy at Board awaydays, conferences and seminars. He has led governance and/or major strategy reviews for a variety of organisations, including Apna Ghar Housing, Aster Group, Bristol Churches Housing, Boston Mayflower, Contour Group, Curo Group, Devon & Cornwall Housing, Ekaya Housing, Enfield Council, Guildford Council, Haig Homes, Hammersmith & Fulham Council, Inquilab Housing, Look Ahead Housing & Care, NACRO, Network Housing, North Hertfordshire Homes, Pathmeads Housing, Raven Housing, St. Matthew Housing, Severn Vale Housing, South London YMCA, Stonebridge Housing Action Trust, Thames Reach, Venture Housing, Tower Hamlets Council, Warden Housing/Home Group, Watford Council, and Willesden Free Church Housing. Others he has advised on governance and/or regulation matters include the housing regulators for England and Ireland, AmicusHorizon Group, Dolphin Square Foundation, Gateway Housing, Hexagon Housing, Irwell Valley Housing, Plus Dane Group, Riverside Group, and Salvation Army Housing Association.

A procurement specialist, Greg has undertaken a raft of service reviews and option appraisals for housing associations, local authorities and council-owned companies. He has project managed and advised on numerous procurement and contracting exercises for local authorities and housing associations, including services, works and PFI contracts, and joint procurement initiatives. He formerly advised the Local Government Employers on TUPE and on pensions in service contracting. He has also led teams carrying out healthchecks and improvement programmes, for local authorities, housing associations and council-owned companies.

As a communications specialist, Greg has developed PR and marketing strategies, run media campaigns, managed events programmes, written and produced publications, and conducted communications audits and stakeholder surveys. He wrote ‘The Business of Communication – a handbook for strategic communications’ for the National Housing Federation.

He has an extensive background in HR and recruitment, stretching back over 25 years. He has undertaken numerous search and selection exercises, in particular for Chief Executives, Finance Directors and Board Chairs. He has conducted reviews of staff structure, pay, organisational development and internal communications. His past experience includes managing all the high level decision making and negotiations machinery for a London Borough, as well as final stage disciplinary, grievance and job evaluation appeals.

He has worked on numerous mergers and partnerships. Examples include: identifying/profiling potential merger partners; brokering deals; project managing the grouping/merger process; managing due diligence. He has worked with a large number of housing associations, care and supported housing providers, sports and leisure trusts on such assignments. He has moreover advised on and supported a range of new business development projects, including: market analysis; service design; branding and marketing. In these areas, he has worked with a range of housing associations, care and support providers, council-owned companies, maintenance contractors, developers, property investors and solicitors.

Greg has been a non-executive Board member of a housing association, a federation of housing co-operatives, and a housing development consultancy. He is now a Director of an advisory company to a new investment funding company, Funding Affordable Homes Ltd.
